As much as I’ve loved living in Colorado for the past 5 years it’s finally time for us to say goodbye. When we first moved here I couldn’t get out of Phoenix fast enough. I was looking for a new change for my little family & boy, did Colorado deliver on that. So much has changed in the last 5 years & now I can’t get back fast enough. I’m dreading the packing again when we just moved into our place now a few months ago, but it’ll be quite the experience moving 3 kids, 2 dogs & whole house while pregnant 😅
It’s always been expensive to live in Colorado but in the last 3 years I’ve lived here the prices get crazier & crazier. I don’t mean like prices at the grocery store I’m mainly talking about housing costs. We pay $1750 to live in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. We could get a house for around the same cost but it’ll be a dump that needs fixing up or somewhere in the worst part of town. Not to mention people want 2x the deposit if you rent from them which is insane to me, I could put that down towards a house. We’ve considered buying, but that market also is insane here. If I don’t want a trailer home or a townhouse I’m looking at about $250k at the lowest. Now that’s not terribly bad but most of the houses at that price are only 2 bedroom 2 bathrooms with 1600 square feet. For a family of 6 we would be looking at house that starts at $350k-if we’re lucky-and we could find a brand new house with more rooms and more square footage for $100k cheaper in decent parts of Phoenix. Most of the houses here in Colorado that would fit our families needs are about $400k+ and even though I love living here I’m not crazy about the idea of paying that much for a house, especially when there’s cheaper options other places.
On top of the prices being insane we’re out here completely by ourselves. No family or anything just some close friends & it would be nice to have the kids grow up around their family. When I had my oldest none of my friends were having kids yet (I was 21) so now that we’re a little older it’s nice all my friends have kids to have playdates with. Plus being a mom of 3 (soon to be 4) can be overwhelming somedays so why not move closer to someone willing to help? My parents has always been involved in my kids lives making a huge effort even 800 miles away to let them know how much they love them. Now that our life is about to get crazier until we get a routine down it’ll be nice to have people around to help.
I’m definitely going to be enjoying my last week in Colorado before we head down to Phoenix for a few weeks. We’re temporarily staying with my parents while we house hunt & I’m so excited to start this new chapter in our lives. Moving to Colorado has taught me so many life lessons as an adult. I feel like I’m going back to Phoenix a whole new person & it feels great! All of the wonderful opportunities my little family is about to have makes my heart so happy & full. I can’t wait to see where we are in 6 months. I also cannot wait to smash a double double with animal style fries because ya girl has been CRAVING them like crazy lately! God all of the yummy Arizona food is calling my name 🤤😂
